Photography used to be a very expensive hobby. I don't want a perfectly good site to go down like Zing, or E-Town if anyone still remembers. To me, I am willing to pay them to keep it up. $2/mo might not change the whole picture. This is a really bad month!! I guess it is related to the "economic downturn".Īnyway, I had spent a lot of time searching for the best site and that was why I am with Fototime.
Phototime review free#
The last time was Bluelight, my free ISP. This is the second time in a month I am hit by fees. It said starting Augand they sent the email today! I expect much comment on this which I will be reading with great interest. How do others feel about the obvious added difficulties now of a posting of pics, this having been one of the backbone issues of these Forums. I have no alternatives that I approve of and and indeed know of very few other good active ones anyway. The biggest problem I see is that VERY many people, myself included, see no way at all now of posting pics in the Forums. Well, I for one are pulling out, definitely, and I am sorry to do so, especially as I know of no other equal that will be suitable for such as myself, being outside US and not even knowing of more than a handful or less of others available. They have created their own 'monster' - an excellent site which very many I think have appreciated - NOW they want to make more money out of it.
Phototime review upgrade#
Fototime had this superb quality of showing a GOOD pic straight away and a quick and simple upgrade to 'full size' AND with a very nice slide-show effect of quality if you wish. By the time you've looked at a few pics this way you quickly get fed up of waiting for the re-loads.

These others in my opinion do not produce a particularly good presentation as an opener and in lots of cases, to get a pic of decent size (a bit better than compact camera type output) seems to require multiple upgrades from small to medium to large. Most of the others that I see presently used in various Forums I personally would not touch with the proverbial barge-pole (that may be a UK saying but you'll get the meaning). One or two other sites of similar type seem to have fallen by the wayside - Photopoint went, although I don't know the result of the recent resurrection as I used to use them but found Fototime better and have stuck with them. But now it appears that they see MORE money in it for them and basically it seems 'to hell' with the 'customer'. It may well be that they did the job TOO well as it has most certainly been my belief for a long time that their storage site (via the Album facility ) has been one of the best - and particularly I believe the quality of the pics they put up on show, after being uploaded to them, were quite excellent. It is my belief that if Fototime or any other similar organisation had gone into this photo-storing system genuinely they would have taken proper account of the income probably, or hopefully, arising from such as processing and photo-selling and calculated the offer of photo-sharing. Frankly I am just about disgusted and feel quite positively that it is just another bit of pure commercialism to get more money out of what has been seen to be a popular hobby route to fortune. Yes, I just got the same e-mail about half-hour ago. What IS there now readily available for posting pics here - a facility that WILL affect the Forums I'm quite sure.

Copy of a message I've just put on 'News Discussion' Forum.
